A new boundary. Fortified Places in the Grand París.

The project presented is the result of an international competition held in Paris last year for Erasmus Intensive Programme. We were to act in The site was an old abandoned fortification s giving and the brief was to give them a new use.

A fortification on which we act and called Champigny Fort was characterized for by being totally disconnected from the its urban context. This construction was developed entirely underground and was surrounded by a trench. A Part of this building was destroyed few years ago and he had built a current and a communication tower recently constructed. The project would comprise at uniting both characteristic elements. The aim of the project is to unite both these characteristic elements

We searched a program that worked with open spaces and who exploited the full potential of this architecture. As a result, it was decided to introduce a dance school for high performance. The new building would serve to recover the lost part of the trench and to connect all the various elements making attractive new space.

The courtyard plan demonstrates how integral nature and site are to our work. The new building does not compete with the old, rather, it complements creating much richer, and bright brighter spaces.

In the new building The sleeping area is located while the scenic areas studios and performance spaces are located in existing buildings giving them life bringing them back to life (or back into use).

The new construction structure was made with reinforced concrete and bricks to do the external walls. We also put frameless glazing to reinforce the relationship between the outside and the inside. Inside, materials are warm finishes to give a sense of comfort.

The new structure is constructed from reinforced concrete and faced with brick. Frameless glazing reinforces the relationship between outside and inside, where warm finishes give a sense of comfort.

The covers roofs are mostly covered garden with grass so as to avoid breaking the line of the place. ¿Small lanterns light that correspond to large classrooms trials also appear.? The connection between the building and the nature is absolute.

The fluidity of garden roof recall the old military buildings where nature was vital and that is the vitality of nature was lived daily.

  1. Ruben, what a great project! And I think that your description is quite compete and I have a good understanding of it. You can see from my suggestions sometimes we are more direct when we write. There was only one sentence when it wasn't clear what you meant 'correspond to large classroom trials'. Maybe you can tell me in class.

Your last sentence, being quite poetic, left a strong impression of what your project was about. well done.
